Prof. Joyce Kiplimo

Prof. Joyce Kiplimo is a renowned scholar in the field of organic chemistry, with a specialization in natural products research. . She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and both M.Sc. and B.Ed. (Science) degrees from Egerton University, Kenya. With over 12 years of University teaching experience, she has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and authored a University-level Chemistry textbook titled The Phytochemistry and Biological activity of Secondary Metabolites. Her research focuses on the extraction, isolation, and characterization of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants and endophytes, particularly from the genera Vepris and Vernonia. Prof. Kiplimo has successfully supervised numerous postgraduate students and continues to mentor emerging scholars in the Chemical Sciences. She has also served as a keynote speaker at international conferences, including the South Africa Chemical Institute (SACI) conference in Pretoria. Beyond academia, she plays a strategic role in University governance as the Dean School of Science and Technology and Director of University of Kabianga Enterprises and Services Limited (UKES) and contributes to various institutional committees.
